Looking to branch out beyond Tillandsia air plants?
Staghorn Ferns (Platycerium bifurcatum) are a beloved fern species native to Southeast Asia, known for their unique ability to cling to trees and cliffs. In warm, humid climates like Florida (USDA Zone 9a and warmer), Staghorn Ferns thrive when permanently attached to Southern Live Oak trees, often growing fully around the branches. You may also spot them suspended from tree branches with a rope or chain, where they form a beautiful, symmetrical shape in the dappled light.
Our Staghorn Ferns come mounted on thick cedar planks, where they’ve naturally attached with shield fronds (also called basal fronds) and come ready to hang with an included hook. Each fern features 4-7 antler fronds that reach 10-18 inches in length. For colder climates, treat your Staghorn like an indoor air plant by providing bright light and a thorough misting once a week, keeping it away from cold and drying drafts. In summer, give them a seasonal outdoor retreat by hanging them on a tree or porch wall where they can bask in rain and humidity.
