Our Fourth School Project: Santa Elena Chichop

Air Plant Shop is excited to announce the start of our fourth school project in Guatemala, made possible through our partnership with Pencils of Promise and the support of our customers.

Since 2016, Air Plant Shop has contributed to school construction projects in rural Guatemala. Together with Pencils of Promise, we have helped fund three schools and classrooms in communities where students face limited access to quality learning spaces. Our fourth project is in Santa Elena Chichop, Quiché, Guatemala, where a new classroom will benefit 178 students.

A New Classroom for Santa Elena

Santa Elena is part of Joyabaj, a beautiful mountainous region of Quiché where families deeply value education despite the challenges of accessing quality learning spaces. The community has a history rooted in resilience and unity. Years ago, families living on local estates came together to advocate for fair treatment and the right to own the land where they lived. Through their determination and collective efforts, they eventually secured ownership of their homes and built the community that exists today.

That spirit of working together continues today as families and community members invest in the future of their children. The Santa Elena community recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the new classroom, which will provide additional learning space for future generations.

Four Projects in Guatemala

This is the fourth school project Air Plant Shop has supported through Pencils of Promise. Our previous projects have helped provide new classrooms and school facilities in several Guatemalan communities, addressing challenges such as overcrowding and inadequate learning spaces.

We are grateful to our customers for making it possible for us to continue supporting education in communities where these projects are needed.
