A Film Snapshot of Our Farm Trips 📸

1 comment Jun 26, 2025

Hi all, Anna here – Creative Director at Air Plant Shop. I recently traveled to our nurseries in Guatemala (one of my favorite parts of the job!) and this time, I decided to capture some moments of the trip on my trusty Canon SureShot film camera.

Not every photo turned out – classic film charm – but the ones that did are worth sharing!

First up: A classic view of Volcán Agua from the enchanting old city of Antigua, which is our home base for the trip.

I take most of the photos for Air Plant Shop (both film and digital), and I have to say...there’s endless inspiration at the farms. Every visit is full of lush foliage, bursts of color, and the kind of natural textures that make you want to pause and breathe.

The real challenge? The heat. It's hot. And humid. Like... can't-think-straight levels. That’s why we always go in with a basic content plan so we’re not totally melting and wandering aimlessly!

Speaking of content—
We pack in as much filming as possible while we're on-site: educational clips, product showcases, brand stories – you name it! We couldn’t do it without our amazing friend and videographer, Angel.

In the shot above, we were filming a feature on our popular sandblasted grapewood displays!

Here’s one of me and Christian (our CEO) after a long, rewarding day on the farm.

A curated moment of calm: some featured Tillandsia ready for their close-up.

These rows of blooming Harrisii caught my eye – their silvery color with subtle pops of yellow and pink are always mesmerizing. You can even spot Angel in action, capturing the moment on video!

And finally, my favorite photo of the bunch.

I love how the off-center subject draws your eye to the curved plant tables stretching endlessly in the background. The light was soft and overcast that day, and I think the tones came through beautifully.

Thanks for coming along on this little photo journey with me. These trips are always a reminder of why we do what we do – connecting people with beautiful plants and the stories behind them. I feel so lucky to witness the heart and hard work at our farms and to share a glimpse of that with you. Until next time!
