What To Expect When You Order

Successfully Receiving & Caring For Your First Air Plant Shop Order

You’ve just made your first Air Plant Shop order. Now what? Here are some things we recommend you do to successfully receive and care for your new Tillandsia.

It's Alive!

These pants are alive and don’t like being in a dark box while shipping! Check your email for the shipping and tracking email often so you know exactly when your plants will arrive. If the weather in your area is very hot (above 95F) or below freezing, we recommend shipping your plants to wherever you are when mail is delivered like your office or school. This insures they can be brought inside to more comfortable conditions right away. While they can live in a wide variety of climates, air plants don’t like temperature extremes. Open the box as soon as you can and give them a nice 20-30 minute soak with chlorine-free water if possible. Tap water will do in a pinch. Set them out to dry after shaking them free of water. Plants should dry within 4 hours. You can use a fan to speed up the process and help avoid rot.

Shipping Can Be Hard On Air Plants

Sometimes plants will look a little tired after a few days in a dark box. That is to be expected. They should perk up within a week at the most. Compare your plants to the one on our website to see what a healthy plant should look like. If they have not perked up in that time let us know immediately that you have a sickly plant. Our 30 day warranty will cover plants that are lost during the first 30 days only.

We've Got You Covered

If your plants die or dry out during shipping please contact us immediately. If you are concerned about a plant that looks sick go ahead and give it a good 3 hour soak. If it doesn’t perk up take a picture and email it to us so we can help. Our email is Service@AirPlantShop.com. Sometimes we will ask you to watch them for a few more days just in case they are still recovering from shipping. If you are ordering for an event or for resale, ordering a couple weeks in advance can allow your plants a little time to recuperate. Note that we will only pay the shipping once for warranty plants on a given order. After that we are happy to include them in your next order or arrange a shipping charge.

Now Let Them Thrive!

Phew, your plants have survived the shipping process and have settled into their new home. Now what? Start by reading up on plant care here! Then give them the 3 essentials...Water, Light and food. The more you know about the 3 essentials the better off your plants will be. This not mean that your plants won’t die. They are a living thing that will die at some point. Sometimes they just give up the ghost. Sometimes they thrive for years. Regardless, we promise you will have fun raising these incredible plants as much as we do!
